Prevent rust-related gear damage with GearLogicSM

GearLogic: frequently asked questions

Can GearLogic be used on non-Standard Machine®-brand gear drives?

Any brand gear drive currently being stored at your facility is likely a candidate for GearLogicSM.

Will GearLogicSM work with synthetic oils?

Yes, but the gearbox needs to be flushed before being filled with synthetic oil. Mineral oils do not require flushing before filling, since GearLogicSM dissolves in mineral oil after the gearbox has been filled.

Can GearLogicSM be applied at my location, or while a gearbox is in service?

Due to the specialized equipment required for GearLogicSM, gearbox must be shipped to Standard Machine for treatment.

Does GearLogicSM require an in-shop overhaul?

Gearboxes can be sent directly from your site to Standard Machine for GearLogicSM treatment.

What size gearboxes are eligible for GearLogicSM?

The GearLogicSM long-term preservation warranty can be applied to virtually any size industrial gearbox.

Do GearLogicSM-treated gearboxes need to have their shafts rotated, or have other preventative maintenance work performed in storage?

The user-friendly GearLogicSM design requires no shaft rotation. The only “maintenance” necessary is periodically checking the desiccant bags and hygroscopic breather to see if they need replacement.

How much does a GearLogicSM treatment cost?

Costs vary depending on gearbox type and other factors. Rest assured, GearLogicSM is intended to be a value-added service that can provide our customers with increased peace of mind for a relatively minimal cost.

What are the benefits of GearLogicSM and proper gear lubricant?

GearLogicSM prevents near-instantaneous damage to gears by applying a non-hardening preservative barrier, protecting gearboxes from humidity and rust corrosion during storage, and its unique non-hardening feature simplifies the reintegration process without the need for flushing.

Gear lubricant provides crucial benefits for machinery by reducing friction and wear between gears, leading to increased efficiency and prolonged equipment life. It helps dissipate heat generated during operation, preventing overheating and maintaining optimal operating temperatures. Additionally, gear lubricants act as a protective barrier, preventing corrosion and minimizing the impact of contaminants, ensuring smooth and reliable gear performance.
